Microsoft released the Office 2010 beta for TechNet and MSDN subscribers just a few hours back and public beta will be available soon.
Office 2010 files can be opened within previous versions of the applications. However, new features and formatting capabilities found in the new version might be lost when saving to or opening from previous versions of the software.
